De Kleine Koning

‘De Kleine Koning’ (der kleine König) is a residential house, and in some cases a home, for children aged between the age of 6 and 18 years who are in need of special care.The limitations differ greatly among the children. Some have been born with a disorder, for instance children who suffer from Down syndrome. Others developed a development disorder due to being damaged physically and/or emotionally in their early years of childhood.
Rudolf Steiner remains to be the main inspiration source for all our co-workers. Extra attention goes out to Christian holidays, to activities involving art and culture and to the children’s religion upbringing. Next to these activities there is a rhythmical structure for every day, containing healthy food and a livid social atmosphere.
During the day the children are to be found in school. In the afternoon and evening the children participate in all kinds of activities inside and outside the house, for instance cooking, claying, weaving, garden work and taking care for small animals.
